Similar to many of our clients, my professional career has been more of a meander than a beeline. After law school, I worked as a management consultant in Boston, then practiced law for a decade in California. I specialized in civil appeals, an academic, high-stakes area of law that requires addressing questions whose answers aren’t readily apparent.
It was helpful training for the work I do with clients today, since paying attention to the fine print and knowing that seemingly “silly questions” are often the most important ones helps us take a more thorough approach.
When I started the firm in 2003, my wife and I had just had our first son a few months before. Today we have two teenage boys, enjoy living in San Francisco, and she likes to remind me that the business is a teenager, too, still growing and learning as we seek to improve the ways we help our clients.I’m an avid jazz fan and enjoy playing saxophone and flute in small combos, with occasional gigs around the Bay Area.
