Milo M. Benningfield, Principal
Milo is the founding principal of Benningfield Financial Advisors. An attorney as well as investment adviser, he enjoys helping families and individuals make good strategic choices with their financial resources and the life decisions that those resources ultimately support.
Originally from Texas, Milo graduated from Rice University, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and afterwards earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the California and Massachusetts State Bars and holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation.
Before founding BFA, he worked as a corporate-strategy consultant in Massachusetts and practiced law for over a decade in California. During earlier days, he also had the pleasure of driving a school van one summer in Normandy, France, working as a movie projectionist, and tearing down his grandfather's barn (upon request) near the Texas panhandle.
Milo is regularly quoted by the financial press on investing and personal-finance issues in such publications as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and BusinessWeek. He also enjoys writing about such issues in BFA's blog and newsletter.
He and his wife live in San Francisco with their two sons.
Michael J. Johnson, Associate Financial Planner
Michael joined the firm in 2014 as an Associate Financial Planner with nearly a decade of experience addressing complex investment and other financial issues. He began his career in Oregon consulting on corporate retirement plans and assisting plan participants with investment decisions. In 2008, he moved to San Francisco and spent six years working for a private family investment office where he developed and maintained financial models, evaluated fund managers, and performed a variety of other analytical and operational tasks.
Michael earned a BS in Management Science from the University of California at San Diego and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designations. He lives in San Francisco and enjoys spending his winter in the snow and his summer on the golf course or hiking through Mt. Tamalpais.
